New Years in Telluride is not like any other. The day usually starts off with people enjoying a day of skiing or hanging out around town preparing for the night to come.

Every year in the town of Mountain Village there is a small firework show and a torch parade which is done by the ski school instructors.

For us, Adam and I spent the day hanging out and playing with Rocko out at the mine in the back of the box canyon. No one really goes back there too often so it was a great place to take the pup out to play. Especially because town park was closed off for Nordic skiing as well as sledding out by the town park stage. The stage and town park are where most of the Telluride Festivals take place in the summer.

Later on I spent my sweet time getting dolled up for the night out before we went to get dinner down in town.

Once we were finally ready to go we stuffed our pockets with a couple of beers for our gondola ride.

At 6:30 it was time for the torch parade to start and for the ski instructors to make their way down chair four.

If you stop in Mountain Village between the two gondolas, one going into town, and the other to the Market at Mountain Village, it makes for the perfect spot to see the show.

It also makes for easy access to the gondola, this way you beat the line into town from all the tourists waiting till the end and then forming a line that could take hours to get through if you're at the end.

Once in town having enjoyed a couple of gondola beers for the road we got to town and hung out for a bit. Not a whole lot goes on in town before the count down.

If you're 21 you're going out to a party at one of the few bars in town. If you're not, you're waiting to see who finally caves and has everyone over, or at least exstends invites to their little "social gatherin."

Earlier in the afternoon, police are working to close off the couple of blocks in town that will be where everyone is at for the count down. Tow trucks are also out unfortunately towing those who don't move their cars in time.

By the time 11:30 comes around the town (tourists and locals) start making their way to the court house. It's not everyone one but it's definitely a huge crowd of people.

Outside in the 20 degree weather, sometimes even worse than that, people are gathered around ready to celebrate the new year. A DJ is out playing music and lights are lighting up the clock tower at the court house.

It seems like every turn you make you see a familiar face. You run into all your friends down in this small area.

Come midnight everyone's cheering and looking for their New Years kiss as champagne bottles are being popped and fireworks are being set off the top of the Sheridan Hotel.

It's one of my favorite ways to celebrate the new year. Obviously not everyone's choice of celebration, being out in the cold. But once you are moving around and have your "beer coat" or whatever choice of alcohol you're consuming coat on haha you're fine!

It's one of the most exciting and fun times of the year.

Being in a small town and loving and fun community makes the celebration even more amazing.

Telluride gives off the most amazing vibes and brings joy to so many people and shares it with friends and completely strangers.

10/10 would highly recommend spending some time there. If you're lucky you may end up staying for a few years and having an incredible time.

HAPPY NEW YEAR! 2017 💕
