My first days back to Telluride were way better compared to the last time that I flew back in the summer.
During the summer I had experienced some altitude sickness within the first three days after flying into Grand Junction, a near by city. But, having driven this time it made adjusting to the altitude a lot easier.
It seems like looking back on it now that my first few days were sort of a blur. I got into Telluride around 1:30 in the afternoon that day, and saw my mother first of course. After unloading most of my things, walking Rocko, and catching up with my mom for a few hours I went into town to hang out with my best friend Haley.
When I met up with Haley in town, another friend of ours came with us and we went to a new restaurant in town called Taco Del Gnar. For the longest time I kept thinking they were telling me Taco Del Mar, but then Haley said no no Taco Del Gnar, like gnarly man haha!
It ended up being a really good place to eat, the vibes were very different from your typical Telluride restaurant, but it was super good food.
Later that night we went over to another friend's house to see more people and hang out! After meeting up with everyone else, we decided to head over to the Sheridan Bar.
Over the next few days my days were filled with working at a coffee shop called Telluride Coffee Company in the mornings, and going out those nights.
Christmas day came, and my mother and I went down to spend the evening with my grandparents. There we had an amazing dinner, which was centered on the prime rib. Having not seen my grandparents in a few months, it was nice to have some time to catch up.
On Tuesday the 27, I headed out to Grand Junction, a city about three hours outside of Telluride to pick up my boyfriend Adam. He didn't have too amazing of a journey himself to Telluride. His flight the night before at around 9 p.m. was cancelled and rescheduled. He ended up having to be at the airport around 4:30 in the morning Tuesday.
The rest of the days all ended up into a blur with all the excitement going on.
Adam and I got to ski for a few days though and get our time on the mountain. Unfortunately the snow wasn't as good as we had hoped it would be. Telluride actually ended up delaying their opening from November 25 to December 2 I believe because of the lack of snow.
Of course by the time that Adam and I had left a huge storm was coming in so we missed the pow pow that Telluride got later this week.
The snow also made for a more difficult drive when we left Jan 2.
Our travels back to Bellingham were pretty good though, a little stormy and icy but it could have been way worse than what we experienced.
It was definitely a long trip filled with an amazing about of fun and excitement. Cannot wait for another adventure back there with Adam. hopefully in the summer time.
